Sweyn's Ey Morris go out performing one of two old traditional Mummers plays that were performed at Christmas in the Gower district from two hundred years ago. We mainly perform the Gower Mummers Play, which was also known as The Christmas Sport. It was regularly performed through out the villages of the Gower peninsular, and north west Swansea until the time of the Second World War. The Crwmpyn John Play is another Mummers Play which was performed more recently by children local to Ynysmeudw, and Ystalyfera in the northern most part of the Gower district in the Swansea Valley.
Both plays are guaranteed to leave an impression on those seeing it for the first time! If you want to see us, this is where you can catch us. We enjoy keeping these old Christmas traditions alive and use them as a means of collecting money for a worthy local charity. We shall name this year's chosen charity in the next week or so.
