Greenman Festival, Crickhowell (part 1)

Well, what a great few days we have had!

We arrived at the Greenman Festival on Thursday and after sorting out our tents, we immediately launched into dancing at the Courtyard Camra run bar which had ales too numerous to mention, and constantly changing groups of customers who seemed thrilled to see us back at the festival, and took the trouble to chat to us - special mention goes out to Elaine & Allan, The Squire of Mersey Morris, Liam, and Caradoc Thomas who briefly danced with us in the 90s!

Several more performances were given on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until our aching limbs said ‘No more please!’

Highlights were introducing our renovated Morris Hobby Horse that last saw action over thirty years ago, dancing for the Post Office People who specifically asked for Postmen’s Knock and a set at the Courtyard involving over 26 people trying to do Brighton Camp. Manic!

Friday night saw many of our people’s musical desires sated by Public Service Broadcasting and Kraftwerk.

Our performances got us noticed by more than just the average festival punter and we were asked to join in with a pantomime production given by the Circus of Truths performing The Transcendental Village Disco! We played a cameo part coming on for 60 seconds attempting to do Bonnie Green Garters to 5678 by Steps! It was an awesome performance, believe me, and smoke and strobes helped the effect no end!

Sunday was a bit of a wind down day but the Side were asked to perform at a wedding ceremony in the morning and this was done prior to a further session at the Courtyard.

Here are some pics of us performing. More will be posted in the coming days. Special thanks to our musicians Sian, Kev, & Di and to everyone who danced their legs off over this awesome event!
