We were asked if we could give a Morris display for the local Cubs at Penllergaer. We performed a short set of British Grenadiers, Step & Fetch her, and Brighton Camp before inviting the Cubs up for a bit of dancing. There were about twenty five Cubs plus their Akelas and Bagheeras who wanted to give it a go.
It was all very noisy, slightly chaotic, and the Cubs all seemed to enjoy it. There was certainly no shortage of questions from them about the Morris and the music that accompanies it. You never know, we could be sowing seeds for some of them to take up the Morris or Welsh folk dancing in later life. We moved on from Penllergaer to the Gwachel, Pontardawe where we held our AGM, and enjoyed the box of chocolates that the Cubs had donated to us. The ale is good at this pub. Phew, it’s all happening down here!
